The most wonderful day

Today started like any other Character First Wednesday. I woke up at an unearthly hour with amazing energy. I got dressed, fixed my hair, ate my breakfast in a rush, and headed out the door to the car. I had an idea for a lesson plan that I wanted to share with my leader, Mr. Jacob, so I wrote it down, just so i wouldn't forget it. Boy, was I glad I did that!

Mr. Werner called all the coaches together to touch base, make anouncements, and have devotions. One of his anouncements just happened to be that Mr. Jacob was sick, and was not going to be able to teach today. I was it.

You know, when I started CF, I had a dread that something like this might happen one day. My leader would get sick, not make it, and I would have to teach the class without him... or worse... with somebody new. The very thought of it back then, would make me feel queezy. Not today!

When that anouncement was made, the first thought that popped into my head was, "Oh, boy! They might put Caleb in for a sub!" I've always wanted to work with him. For one, he is my friend, and I enjoy his company nomatter what we're doing. And second, his joyfull smile, and energetic nature was sure to be a lot of fun!!

Was I ever right! I really wish I could come back next year and request to work under him perminantly. He was that good!

We started by comming in very quietly. Almost misteriously boring. The kids knew me, and had good faith that mine was just an act, but who on earth was THIS guy? Was he really falling asleep on the chalk board?? The kids in all classes made some pretty nice comments about that. *cough!*. lol.

Well, the "stranger" was holding a baloon as he dreamed away, and I picked up a pencil and POPPED IT shouting "WAKE UP! We're in class! We're teaching a new character quality! And your the teacher!!" The stranger looked bewildered and asks questions like, "What?! Who are all these kids?! What am I doing here?!"

That provided a good introduction for the quality this month... EnTHUUsiasMMMM!!! We had to practice that a coupl times before the "stranger" finaly said it right. The kids loved every minute of him! So did I!!

Our lesson plan was fairly simple. Just a bunch of puzzle peices they would color by number, and then try to put together. I drew a picture of a whale for their puzzle. Well, I sketched it from the curiculum, so I can't claim all the credit for that one, but I did draw it. I also found that the kindergarden classes do really well with enTHUUsiastic jumping jacks and push-ups. Next week, i think we'll do the hokey-pokey.

The think that made today such a sucess, was the spontanious adlib we bounced off eachother. After it was all over, Caleb told me I was the best assistant he's ever had. I took that as a great big complement, because Caleb has been around the schools and the classes and worked with nearly everybody at some point or another.

I am so going to miss that guy! Lord! Why are You taking me away from my dearest friends??

Today was the most wonderful day.
